Hull: ACV vs. agreed value
Agreed value pays the scheduled amount with no depreciation argument. Worth it above $25K.
- Include electronics, trailer, and tender
- Survey required for boats > 10 years or > $100K
Named-storm deductibles and haul-out
Coastal carriers apply a separate 5%–10% deductible for named storms and may require a hurricane plan.
- Haul-out reimbursement (50% of cost, up to $1K–$2K) is a common feature
- Wet slip vs. lift vs. trailer changes the rate
- Florida June–November: some carriers restrict binding
Liability and the extras
Boat liability, fuel spill (OPA 90 up to $1M), wreck removal, and uninsured boater are all separate line items.
- $500K liability minimum; umbrella requires it
- Wreck removal: sinking a 30-ft boat in the ICW can cost $20K to raise
- Medical payments for guests
